My Mapping Experience

Original Source ↗

Very interesting. Initially, I was skeptical about the idea of mapping, but now I retract my words until a complete investigation of this matter: I tried to assemble my Dream map based on fragments of Dreams and notes, and then compared it with the map located on Sergey Khrapovitsky's website: http://soznan.al.ru/Images/map.jpg.

Coincidences

(in square brackets - data from Iveta's map on Sergey's website):

  1. The forest stretches approximately from NE to N and further to NW. [NNE-N-NW]
  2. In the NE, the forest ends at the border of a swamp, the eastern part of which is hidden by a haze. [NE: Iveta's lake]
  3. NNE - a castle where I met a woman in black (incidentally, in the same area I would place the castle where I tried to meet Darkus) [NW: religious sites]
  4. A village in the NW where I saw no one [Iveta's empty houses: NW]. In my Dream, it is located at the forest's edge, and on the other side, a vast field adjoins it. If one moves south from the village, to the right (west) a deep precipice opens up, and a very beautiful river flows below (parallel to the N-S axis) [Iveta's Western River].
  5. I placed the prison approximately in the South [SW: prison], as I dreamt of it literally today and tried to escape from it towards the north (to the city?).
  6. The sea and mountains are approximately SE [Iveta's sea is in the East, and mountains in the SE].

Discrepancies

A quarter of my map turned out to be completely empty - from SE to SW. However, in the SSE, I placed a desert (right at the city's edge).

P.S. I compiled most of the map intuitively, recalling my state in the Dream and superimposing it onto my sense of orientation by cardinal directions. The rest - relative to the time of day in the Dream and the sun's position.
