Welcome to ThirdGate. This Privacy Policy explains how I ("the Developer", "I", "me") collect, use, and protect your information when you use the ThirdGate mobile application (the "App") and the website located at thirdgate.org (the "Website").

By using the App or Website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information I Collect

A. Personal Data You Provide

To use the dream journaling features, you must create an account. I collect the following:

  • Authentication Data: Email address (via Firebase Authentication).
  • User Content: The text contents of your dreams, titles, and associated metadata (e.g., dates, tags) that you voluntarily enter into the App.

B. Automatically Collected Data & Analytics

I use analytics tools to understand how the App and Website are used (e.g., how often features are used, or if the app crashes). This helps me improve the stability and experience of the project.

  • Website Analytics: I use PostHog in "cookieless mode" to measure website traffic. This method does not store cookies on your device and does not collect personal data from website visitors.
  • App Analytics: On the mobile App, I collect anonymous usage logs and error reports to help fix crashes and improve performance.

2. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

  • Website: The Website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
  • App: The App uses secure local storage on your device to keep you logged in and to temporarily store your data before it syncs to the cloud.

3. How I Use Your Information

I am a single developer creating this project for non-commercial purposes. I use your data solely to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service (storing your dreams).
  • Authenticate your login.
  • Monitor usage trends and fix technical issues (debugging).

I do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

I use trusted third-party services to operate the App. These parties have access to your data only to perform specific tasks on my behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is stored securely in the cloud via Google Firebase.

Your Right to Delete: You have full control over your data. You can delete your account and all associated data (dreams, metadata, and login info) at any time directly within the App or Website settings. When you request deletion, your data is permanently removed from the active database immediately.

6. Security

I value your trust in providing your Personal Information and I leverage industry-standard security provided by Google Firebase to protect it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and I cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If I discover that a child under 13 has provided me with personal information, I will delete this from our servers immediately.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. I will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
