Continuation about Intent
Original Source ↗In Spam's book, a medieval mystic asserts that "magic" is the art of controlling one or another course of events. Art implies familiarity with the methods and goals of a given field of knowledge. The art of control implies the optimal choice of paths that ultimately lead to the desired goal. However, the course of events is a complex matter. Some intuitive knowledge convinces me that the number of courses of events in any situation can vary. Let's designate the number of courses of events as n.
Then the variants could be as follows:
- n=0 - the event is impossible (it lies in the realm of the unknowable and bears no relation to the human band of perception);
- n=1 - the event has an unchangeable, once and for all established course.
Here, one must not confuse the probability of an event with the course of an event. Probability implies the presence or absence of an event within a given time period. We, however, are speaking of the course of an event. The medieval mystic asserts that events with few courses are very rare on large time scales. But on small scales, they are very convenient for consideration.
Thus, an event is a specific sequence of actions (or a so-called "course"). But the mystic asserts that in rare and special cases, a sequence of actions acquires such an optimal form that it is endowed with "the quality of priority" in the manifestations of the world. That is, it acquires a timeless and obligatory nature. Or, speaking in terms we understand, it transforms into an Eagle's command.
"One, two... - said Woland. - Mercury in the second house... the moon is gone... six - misfortune... evening - seven... Your head will be cut off!" :)))
If we learn to shape our behavior according to "priority" courses of events, this will not only lead us beyond temporal limitations but also introduce us into the lineage of the abstract cores of seers. We will make the Eagle's commands - our own.
