My Mapping Experience
Original Source ↗I started recording Dreams (and gradually recalling old ones) in March of this year. Three months in total. Every day. As always, I wake up several times during the night and after each awakening, I record the dream, a brief description, if I remember it and if it's more or less "normal." That is, not belonging to "delusional loops." (Though I note those too). Then I sleep further. In the morning or simply during the day, I flip through my Dreams. In a special notebook, I sketched "blocks": areas of Dreaming. For example, "library." A train station, a strange snowy area with trees, fenced off, a school, a school gym, etc. - various small and large objects. Lately, I've simply been sketching them right there in my Dreaming journal.
That's all. They can be placed on a map. I borrowed two hints from the "Dream Hackers": it's convenient to place the house in the center of the map. And somewhere at the top is a large building (this is where I categorize Dreams where I run through corridors, doors, rooms, escaping from someone). I draw the house. Around it, I sense where the school is, and draw a school square. I feel that to the sides of the House are other houses, which I also call house-yards. To the left is the train station, railroad, and below it, an institute. To the right of the house (if I haven't mentioned it yet) is the school. Below and slightly to the right of the school is a large "technogenic" zone: I simply call it the City. There are many houses there, both large stone ones and wooden ones (fences, sheds, etc.). If I have a dream that I somehow feel belongs to this City, I mark a square there. I've placed quite a few such squares there, so I no longer draw them – it's already clear since they occur in the same (or similar) places. Occasionally, Dreams "jump out" into the large building. That's everything, it seems. This is how I create my Dreaming map.
Why would I analyze several hundred Dreams when there are only 4-5 points on my map where Dreams occur? (I forgot to mention that above the House are dacha plots and villages). They occur back and forth like this, scattered: House, school, institute, House, City, school, villages, train station, House, institute, House, institute... Small objects can be different, naturally. But the locality is the same. I even tried to determine if there would be any pattern in such an alternation. Or what kind of design would emerge if these dream locations were connected with lines – nothing!
Addition
In short, I continue to record Dreams now, but regarding mapping – I don't even know. It doesn't induce any Lucid Dreams for me, nor is there any perceptible benefit anymore. Perhaps it has exhausted its purpose, and I need to move on. Even if I did it incorrectly. I don't know...
