Where to Engage in Mapping - In Lucid Dreams or Ordinary Dreams?

Original Source ↗

Perhaps someone can explain to me: should mapping be done only in Lucid Dreams, or can one try to do it through ordinary, unconscious dreams? How beneficial would it be in that case? Furthermore, I've been recording dreams for 6 months. What benefit would you advise me to draw from this?

krio's Answer

Mapping should be done in ordinary dreams. It's possible to do it in both, but I personally don't spend Lucid Dream time on this.

You need to keep all your records in mind in some way. Understand that these are dreams, and compare the surroundings from them with places where you are in reality. Sooner or later, you will suddenly realize that it is the very same place, and you will become aware that you are sleeping and seeing a repeat of that dream. Further, as everyone writes, look at your hands, take quick glances to the sides, etc.

Personally, I can concentrate reality around myself (hold the Assemblage Point) even without these techniques. It's a matter of experience. My Lucid Dreams have been happening since childhood (not that long ago :), so I don't have to go through everything from the beginning.

Mapping begins with the fixation of ordinary dreams. Several points are important here:

  1. With some practice, you will form the intention to fixate space, meaning you will behave in the dream not as a character in the dream's plot, but as an explorer. Benefits: you can gradually master Lucid Dreams; perform a host of interesting actions; you can create an artificial space for your map and then compile it with true dream reality.
  2. With practice, you begin to recall during the dream that you have been to this place several times. Thus, dream memory begins to awaken. You must cherish these moments, strive for them, remember such a task in the dream, and, as you correctly noted, gradually transfer mapping into the sphere of dreams. With correct practice (when there is free energy, when you are not burdened by everyday problems, and with the appropriate intention), dream memory will awaken. I have already described this moment as a kind of satori, ecstasy, and madness. But after it, Lucid Dreams become a constant affair.
  3. Dreaming practice should be accompanied by the stalking of everyday life. Otherwise, how will you get rid of the problems that oppress your consciousness? How will you accumulate the necessary level of energy? A smaller task immediately arises here: not to give in to the flyers. Do not expose yourself, observe certain safety precautions. Thousands of words have been written about all this. Read the materials of the Dream Hackers.

I don't believe your six months of dream records are entirely useless. Structure them, learn to treat them as a valuable asset, not as a term paper for some harsh professor. Who here will give you grades? This is your research. This is your life and your world. If you have questions, ask, and I will answer; only The Eagle can give you credit.
