Question: The Abyss in Dreaming and the Impact of Dream Journaling

Quite a long time ago, I had a dream, an unaware one. I rode on horses with a friend I don't know in reality, to a large sand spit, and thought that ahead, there would probably be the sea. I was mistaken. A few steps later, before us was a colossal abyss, swirling with grey fog. Something prompted me that the abyss was bottomless. At this point, I woke up, filled with awe before such a strange natural phenomenon. And then I trembled with a wild thought — what if I were to jump into it? Later, years later, I even developed a whole theory that one should jump into it in a Lucid Dream and thereby reach distant Assemblage Point positions, but I've had no similar dreams since. Could it have been the funnel you described? But in that case, no rivers flowed into it... And what would happen if one were to enter it? By the way, since I started keeping a dream journal, I've been sleeping worse. What could this mean?

Response from Sergey Izrigi

On the Nature of the Abyss

I have seen a similar abyss in the southwest corner of my dreaming world. There are many mountains and small valleys there, where some of our desires manifest. I once mentioned this abyss to Olgerd. It is indeed a strange place. The entrance to it passed through gates upon which something like "Obelisk of Heroes" was inscribed. And immediately beyond the massive high gates, this chasm began.

Advice on Exploring Such Phenomena

Whether to jump into it or not is for you to decide. Be aware that any "visible portal" can turn out to be a trap for attention. A true Dream Hacker possesses a sober mind in addition to courage. It might be better if you postpone the exploration of this place for the future.

On the Decrease in Dreams When Starting a Dream Journal

Regarding the fact that you've had fewer dreams since you started working with them: This phenomenon is noted in many books on Dreaming. It is temporary, and afterward, an increase in "vivid" and often lucid dreams will be observed.
