Fishing for Soma
Original Source ↗Sometimes abstract symbols are dragged from dreams; they just appear in the morning on their own. And I read somewhere that one should be more careful with symbols. Is it better to forget them immediately or, conversely, to try to concentrate on them before falling asleep?
Regarding symbols from the subconscious, that's a special discussion. What surfaces into consciousness spontaneously often holds no value. It's different if you engage with it intentionally. There's an ancient technique – it can be called "Fishing for Soma." I've forgotten the meaning of the word soma, but you can look it up yourself, alright? The word "somatic" derives from it.
So, you sit in a brightly lit place. Ideally, under direct sunlight, but sitting with your head bowed and eyes closed. You can use a lamp. The main thing is that, with your eyes closed, you see an internal panorama – specifically, a reddish-crimson haze. You associate this haze with the ocean of the subconscious (Option 1) or with a specific informational layer of the planet (Option 2). Then you begin the fishing. It involves the following: as you inhale, you draw the red haze into yourself, and as you exhale, you release it from yourself. Naturally, there's an entire ocean of this haze. But you, like a whale, filter it in and release it in a fountain-like spray with each exhalation. After some time, the haze will begin to change. Gradually, you will start to reel in various symbols and images. You can stop and work with each of them. Simply contemplate the symbol, and it will gradually reveal itself to you. Mostly, this is trivial stuff – like your grievances against friends or relatives, etc.
If you don't care for such psychoanalytical nonsense, then proceed further. After some time, you will encounter a fence or a wall. Pay attention to its texture. For example, Doc uses a similar method to enter the labyrinths of other people when healing their ailments. Each of us, in essence, drifts simultaneously through several labyrinths within such a multidimensional space. By the texture of the walls, you can understand which one you are currently conscious within. And here lies a vast field for exploration. (This is Option 1). In Option 2, you are unlikely to reach a wall or fence. Instead, you will reel in interesting mantras, mandalas, yantras, which will unfold within you as specific knowledge (either immediately or a little later). The dangers here are as follows: sometimes the acquired knowledge begins to change you in one way or another; sometimes you experience such profound insights that they create a dependency on similar states, meaning you become like an addict; sometimes knowledge demands realization, and if you bury it within yourself, it will manifest as an illness – physical or mental. There will be nothing unexpected in this for you. In your heart, you will know the cause, even though your mind will find its rational justifications.
