Answer:

The trick with energy exercises is that you begin to shift your focus of attention through various parts of the body. For example, you hum with your mouth closed, feel the vibration, and "push" it on exhales towards your shoulder, then down your arm to your palm. This can also be done without humming and vibration, simply by sensing the focus of your attention as it moves at your will from your shoulder to your arm or from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet.
